Category: Cisco Devices, SNMP Framework, Wireless and WLAN

Description: Defines SNMP agent capability statements for the Cisco 802.11n High-Throughput PHY MIB.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-DOT11-HT-PHY-CAPABILITY?

This is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module describing which groups and object variations of the CISCO-DOT11-HT-PHY-MIB (802.11n High-Throughput physical layer MIB) a given Cisco wireless agent implementation supports. It defines no managed objects of its own and therefore carries no runtime data about wireless radio performance, channel usage, or hardware state. As a pure conformance statement it is not used to monitor uptime, temperature, CPU load, or any operational metric; any actual 802.11n PHY monitoring is done through the underlying CISCO-DOT11-HT-PHY-MIB. It depends entirely on that referenced MIB and on standard SNMPv2 AGENT-CAPABILITIES conventions. It is used by NMS platforms and MIB compilers to determine per-release feature support on Cisco 802.11n-capable wireless equipment. Engineers can download the CISCO-DOT11-HT-PHY-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-DOT11-HT-PHY-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco 802.11n-capable access points and wireless bridges
  • vendor-specific conformance module, not a data-bearing MIB

Monitoring Examples

As a capabilities-only module it defines no data objects or tables; there are no sample runtime objects to poll here. Actual 802.11n PHY-level monitoring, such as channel width or spatial stream status, would be performed against the underlying CISCO-DOT11-HT-PHY-MIB rather than this capability statement.
