What Is CISCO-DMN-DSG-ROOT-MIB?
CISCO-DMN-DSG-ROOT-MIB is a Cisco enterprise root MIB that establishes the top-level object identifier tree for the Cisco Digital Media Network (DMN) Digital Storage/Satellite Gateway (D9800) product line used in cable and satellite headend video distribution equipment. It does not itself expose runtime data; instead it defines the OID branches (ciscoSat, ciscoDMN, ciscoDSGUtilities, ciscoDSGProducts) under which the actual utility and product-specific MIB modules register their managed objects. Anyone who needs to download CISCO-DMN-DSG-ROOT-MIB for a DSG deployment should pair it with the specific utility and product MIB modules that register beneath these branches, since this root module alone defines no usable objects. Because it carries no leaf objects, it has no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status itself; that functionality lives entirely in the subordinate DSG MIB modules that hang off this tree. It depends on the Cisco enterprises OID arc and is a prerequisite for any DSG-related MIB compiling correctly in a MIB browser. It is typically loaded alongside other Cisco DMN MIBs when managing satellite and cable digital gateway headend equipment.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-DMN-DSG-ROOT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples
This module is purely structural, containing only registration nodes (ciscoSat, ciscoDMN, ciscoDSGUtilities, ciscoDSGProducts) and defining no scalars, tables, or traps of its own, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe. An admin would never poll an object directly under this MIB; its sole function is to give downstream DSG utility and product MIBs a stable parent OID to attach to.
