Category: Cisco Devices, IP and Core Protocols, SNMP Framework
Description: Defines SNMP agent capability statements for the Cisco Context Mapping MIB that correlates SNMP contexts to VRF instances.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-CONTEXT-MAPPING-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-CONTEXT-MAPPING-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module, not a data-bearing MIB, and it belongs to Cisco's IOS/IOS-XE MIB family for VRF-aware SNMP management. It declares which object groups and compliance statements of the companion CISCO-CONTEXT-MAPPING-MIB a given agent implementation actually supports, rather than exposing any live device data itself. As a conformance statement it plays no direct role in monitoring hardware or software status; it exists purely so that management stations can discover feature support before querying the real data MIB. Its only dependency is on the CISCO-CONTEXT-MAPPING-MIB it describes. It is used internally by SNMP tooling during MIB compilation and capability negotiation rather than deployed for day-to-day monitoring. Engineers can download the CISCO-CONTEXT-MAPPING-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-CONTEXT-MAPPING-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- vendor-neutral SNMP tooling artifact, applies to Cisco IOS/IOS-XE devices running SNMP agents
Monitoring Examples
This module contains no runtime data objects (sample_objects is empty) and defines no tables or counters of its own, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe; it is purely a capabilities/conformance statement.
