Description: Defines common textual conventions and base objects shared across ADTRAN AOS platform MIB modules.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ADTRAN-COMMON-AOS?
ADTRAN-COMMON-AOS is a vendor MODULE-IDENTITY MIB from ADTRAN, Inc. that establishes the adGenAOSCommon enterprise tree node underlying all AOS (Adtran Operating System) common MIBs, rather than defining its own OBJECT-TYPE leaves directly. It carves out named subtrees such as adGenAOSUnit, adGenAOSSnmp, adAOSDownload, adGenAOSCpuUtil, adGenAOSMux, adGenAOSFileSystem, adGenAosIfPerfHistory, adGenAOSFan, adGenAOSNetSync, adGenAOSOverTempProtection, and adGenAOSDyingGasp, which downstream MIBs populate with device health, CPU/memory, TDM cross-connect, TFTP firmware download, fan, network sync, over-temperature, and dying-gasp objects. It imports adShared/adIdentityShared from ADTRAN-MIB and adGenAOS/adGenAOSCommon from ADTRAN-AOS, tying it into ADTRAN's broader enterprise MIB hierarchy for AOS-based routers and access devices. Because it is purely structural, it is useful mainly as the anchor OID reference administrators need when locating or compiling the more detailed ADTRAN AOS common MIBs. Anyone building an SNMP polling profile for ADTRAN gear will typically start from the ADTRAN-COMMON-AOS MIB before loading its child MIBs.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ADTRAN-COMMON-AOS. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- ADTRAN AOS-based routers and access devices
Monitoring Examples
An operator uses the adGenAOSOverTempProtection and adGenAOSDyingGasp subtree definitions to confirm their monitoring tool subscribes to the corresponding notifications from the child MIBs, and a device sending a dying-gasp trap unexpectedly during normal operation would indicate an abrupt power loss or reboot.
What Can Be Monitored
- Enterprise OID subtree anchors for AOS common features
- CPU/memory utilization tree (adGenAOSCpuUtil)
- Interface performance history tree
- Fan and over-temperature protection trees
- Dying gasp notification tree
