Description: Provides management objects for Cisco CDS-TV server nodes, including operational status, resource utilization, and service configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-CDSTV-SERVER-MIB?

CISCO-CDSTV-SERVER-MIB manages server node configuration within the Cisco Content Delivery System for TV (CDS-TV) product family, covering identity, role, and operational settings for individual servers in a CDS-TV cluster delivering video to television or set-top-box clients. It exposes hardware/software identity data (part number, server ID, group ID, hostname), the server's functional role in the cluster, and operational toggles such as jumbo frame support, offload, and null streaming enablement, plus transport port range configuration. Its monitoring value covers both configuration correctness and operational status: administrators use cdstvServerRole and identity fields to confirm cluster topology, and feature-enable flags to verify a server is tuned correctly for its streaming/caching workload, which is important for diagnosing playback or capacity issues. It is a companion module to CISCO-CDSTV-ISA-MIB within the same CDS-TV product suite, sharing overall platform context. It is deployed on Cisco CDS-TV server appliances functioning as ingest, cache, or streaming nodes. Engineers can download the CISCO-CDSTV-SERVER-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-CDSTV-SERVER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco CDS-TV (Content Delivery System for TV) server appliance

Monitoring Examples

An operator would check cdstvServerRole and cdstvServerGroupID for a given cdstvServerID to confirm which cluster and function a server is assigned to, then verify cdstvCacheJumboFramesEnable and cdstvStreamJumboFramesEnable are consistently enabled across nodes expected to use jumbo frames. Checking cdstvServerStartingTransportPort and cdstvServerEndingTransportPort against actual stream session counts would reveal whether the configured port range is sufficient, with exhaustion showing up as failed session admits when cdstvServerNullStreamingEnable is used as a fallback.

What Can Be Monitored

  • server role and group/cluster membership
  • server identity (ID, part number, hostname)
  • jumbo frame enablement (cache and stream)
  • offload and null-streaming feature status
  • transport port range configuration
