Category: Cisco Devices, Network Interfaces

Description: Provides management objects for configuring and monitoring Cisco Flex Links, a Layer 2 redundancy mechanism for Ethernet access ports.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-FLEX-LINKS-MIB?

CISCO-FLEX-LINKS-MIB is a Cisco Systems, Inc. proprietary MIB configuring and monitoring Flex Links, a pair of Layer 2 interfaces where one acts as backup to the other as a faster alternative to Spanning Tree. Its configuration table, keyed by interface, records the primary/backup interface, storage type, and row status, an extended-configuration table adds preemption mode/delay and preferred-VLAN settings, and a status table reports current forwarding status with a status-change notification. As a configuration/status MIB it lets an administrator confirm which interface in a Flex Links pair is currently forwarding and watch for a failover event. It is deployed on Cisco Systems switches running Flex Links. Engineers can download the CISCO-FLEX-LINKS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-FLEX-LINKS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Systems switches (Flex Links)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks cflIfStatus after a cflIfStatusChangeNotif trap to confirm Flex Links correctly failed over to the backup interface on a Cisco switch.

What Can Be Monitored

  • Flex Links primary/backup interface forwarding status
