What Is CFAB-MIB?

CFAB-MIB manages Cisco Fabric Interconnect configuration and status objects, used in Cisco's unified computing/data center fabric products (such as UCS-style fabric interconnects) that tie together compute, network, and storage domains. It exposes domain management information — domain identifiers, IPv4 addressing per domain, and sub-tables of related fabric addressing detail — reflecting how the fabric is logically partitioned and addressed. Its monitoring relevance is largely around fabric configuration/state integrity: confirming each managed domain is correctly identified, reachable at its configured IPv4 address, and that sub-domain address assignments are consistent, which helps catch fabric addressing conflicts or a domain losing management reachability. As a Cisco data-center fabric MIB it is typically used alongside other UCS/Nexus MIBs covering interfaces, chassis, and hardware inventory. It is deployed in Cisco Unified Computing System / data center fabric interconnect environments. Engineers can download the CFAB-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CFAB-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll cfabDomainManagementInfoTable, keyed by cfabDomainManagementInfoIndex, to read cfabDomainManagementInfoDomainId and confirm each fabric domain is registered as expected. cfabDomainIpv4Table, keyed by cfabDomainIpv4DomainIndex, exposes cfabDomainIpv4FabricId for the IPv4 addressing tied to each domain, and its cfabDomainIpv4SubTable/cfabDomainIpv4SubEntry sub-table would be checked to verify per-domain address sub-assignments are consistent and not conflicting.
