Category: Cisco Devices, Device Management, Hardware and Environment, SNMP Framework
Description: Declares SNMP agent capabilities for automatic module shutdown on Cisco modular routing and switching platforms.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-MODULE-AUTO-SHUTDOWN-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-MODULE-AUTO-SHUTDOWN-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module declaring which features of the companion CISCO-MODULE-AUTO-SHUTDOWN-MIB (automatic shutdown of overheating or faulty modules) a given Cisco platform/release supports. It contains no live data objects, only conformance mappings used during MIB compilation by a management station. As a capabilities module it does not itself report hardware status such as temperature or shutdown events; that is the job of the underlying CISCO-MODULE-AUTO-SHUTDOWN-MIB, which this module merely describes support for. It is entirely dependent on CISCO-MODULE-AUTO-SHUTDOWN-MIB for any operational meaning. It is used in management tooling for Cisco modular chassis where line cards can be automatically powered down on thermal or fault conditions. Engineers can download the CISCO-MODULE-AUTO-SHUTDOWN-CAPABILITY file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-MODULE-AUTO-SHUTDOWN-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco modular routers and switches
Monitoring Examples
This module holds only AGENT-CAPABILITIES SUPPORTS statements referencing object groups in CISCO-MODULE-AUTO-SHUTDOWN-MIB; there are no tables, counters, or scalars here to poll. No monitoring scenario applies directly to this module — an NMS would use it only to determine which auto-shutdown related objects are implemented before polling the real MIB.
