Description: Manages CDR/Kentrox DS2 channel service unit configuration and performance monitoring for higher-rate digital circuits.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CDR-DS2-MIB?

CDR-DS2-MIB is a vendor MIB from CDR/Kentrox for DS2 (Digital Signal level 2, ~6.312 Mbps) channel service unit (CSU) equipment used on higher-rate digital circuits. It exposes configuration objects for the DS2 line/circuit alongside performance-monitoring and alarm data for the interface. Its monitoring value is centered on WAN circuit/hardware health: line alarm conditions and performance counters (such as errored seconds or signal-loss indications typical of DS-family MIBs) reveal whether the leased-line circuit and the CSU hardware terminating it are functioning correctly. It appears modeled on the conventions of IETF DS-family circuit MIBs (e.g., the DS3/E3 MIB in RFC 1407) even though it is not itself an IETF-standard module. It is typically deployed at a telecom or WAN edge, connecting a router to a higher-speed leased digital circuit via a DS2 CSU/DSU. Engineers can download the CDR-DS2-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CDR-DS2-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Lucent SoftSwitch CDR (Call Detail Record) Device Server

Monitoring Examples

No sample object names were provided for this module, so specific identifiers can't be quoted. Based on the description, the MIB would expose a table of DS2 interface entries carrying alarm status and performance counters such as errored seconds or code violations, in keeping with typical CSU MIB conventions. An administrator polling these objects would notice an active alarm or a rising error count as evidence of a degrading or failed leased-line circuit.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DS2 line alarm status
  • line performance/error counters
  • circuit configuration parameters
