Category: Quality of Service, Wireless and WLAN

Description: Manages CCK/OFDM radio modulation parameters and channel configuration for wireless LAN interfaces.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CCK-MIB?

CCK-MIB is a wireless-networking MIB (RiverStone/RS-prefixed object naming) that manages CCK/OFDM radio modulation elements and channel configuration for wireless LAN interfaces. It exposes a table of configurable radio "elements" with identity, description, group membership, active/available status, a default address, and row-status for provisioning, alongside a separate health-check table for the same elements. Its monitoring focus is on radio hardware/software operational state, letting an operator see which CCK/OFDM modulation elements are currently active versus merely available, and whether a given element is passing its health check, useful for diagnosing a radio interface that has silently dropped to a degraded or inactive modulation configuration. It is a vendor-specific schema (rs-prefixed objects) with no evident dependency on a standard wireless MIB. It is deployed on wireless LAN access points or radio interface cards using CCK/OFDM modulation. Engineers can download the CCK-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CCK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • wireless LAN access point / radio interface using CCK/OFDM modulation

Monitoring Examples

An operator would check rsCCKElementIsActive and rsCCKElementIsAvailable in rsCCKElementTable/rsCCKElementEntry for a given rsCCKElementId to confirm whether a specific modulation element is both available and currently active, an available-but-inactive element could indicate a failed activation. Reviewing rsCCKHealthChkTable/rsCCKHealthChkEntry for rsCCKHealthChkName tied to that same element reveals whether ongoing health checks are passing, an early sign of a radio hardware problem before it manifests as a hard link failure. Checking rsCCKElementGroup and rsCCKElementRowStatus helps confirm the element's group assignment and whether recent provisioning changes have completed.

What Can Be Monitored

  • modulation element active/available status
  • element health-check result
  • element group assignment
  • element provisioning row status
