What Is CADANT-CMTS-DHCPRA-MIB?

CADANT-CMTS-DHCPRA-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from ARRIS (formerly Cadant) for the C4/C4c CMTS (Cable Modem Termination System) platform, covering the DHCP Relay Agent (DHCPRA) function used to assign IP addresses to cable modems and subscriber CPE. It exposes configuration data such as per-virtual-router DHCP server addressing (cadVrDhcpServerTable), relay agent options (cadDhcpRaOption), and lease-query behavior (cadDhcpRaLeaseQuery), alongside operational throttle controls for DHCP, ARP, ND, and DHCPv6 traffic. Its monitoring value is largely software/configuration status: administrators can confirm which DHCP servers are configured per virtual router, whether row entries are active (cadVrDhcpServerRowStatus), and whether throttle protections against DHCP floods are enabled and correctly rate-limited. It depends on standard DHCP (RFC 2131) and DOCSIS cable modem provisioning concepts, layered onto Cadant's proprietary virtual router architecture. It is deployed by cable operators managing CMTS head-end equipment responsible for provisioning large populations of residential cable modems. An operator would poll cadVrDhcpServerTable/cadVrDhcpServerEntry to confirm the correct DHCP server IP addresses (cadVrDhcpServerIPAddress) are configured and active (cadVrDhcpServerRowStatus) for each virtual router, revealing misconfiguration if a modem population fails to get IP addresses. Checking cadDhcpThrottleEnable, cadDhcpThrottleRate, and cadDhcpThrottleBurstSize would show whether DHCP request throttling is suppressing a flood of renewal requests during a mass modem reboot event. Similarly, cadArpThrottleEnable and cadNdThrottleEnable let an admin confirm ARP/Neighbor Discovery flood protection is active on the CMTS during a subscriber outage storm.
