Description: Manages CableHome CDP (Customer Device Profile) data for residential gateway subscriber provisioning.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CABH-CDP-MIB?

CABH-CDP-MIB is a CableLabs specification MIB, part of the CableHome program and registered under clabProjCableHome, that models the CableHome DHCP Portal (CDP) function of a residential gateway (PS) device — the component running a DHCP server on the LAN side and a DHCP client on the WAN side to bridge subscriber home-network addressing with the cable operator's provisioning system. It exposes LAN lease-pool health via cabhCdpLanTransCurCount/Threshold/Action (current active LAN-Trans leases versus a configurable threshold and the action taken when it's exceeded), WAN-side DHCP address acquisition counts (cabhCdpWanDataIpAddrCount), and a factory-reset control (cabhCdpSetToFactory) that clears LAN address leases and restores DHCP server option defaults for LAN pool ranges, DNS/router/syslog addresses, lease time, and time-offset settings under cabhCdpServer. Since CableHome is a CableLabs interoperability specification rather than a single manufacturer's product, it's implemented across many residential-gateway vendors' PS devices rather than being device-specific. Monitoring it is useful for detecting LAN address-pool exhaustion and confirming DHCP server-side configuration on cable-operator-provisioned gateways, making the CABH-CDP-MIB MIB a common target when auditing CableHome-compliant deployments.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CABH-CDP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • CableLabs CableHome-compliant residential gateway (PS) devices, multiple manufacturers

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls cabhCdpLanTransCurCount against cabhCdpLanTransThreshold to see how close a residential gateway's DHCP lease pool is to exhaustion, and cabhCdpLanTransAction reporting noAssignment would confirm the PS is now refusing new LAN-Trans address assignments because the threshold was exceeded.

What Can Be Monitored

  • current vs. threshold LAN-Trans DHCP lease count
  • lease-threshold-exceeded action
  • WAN-side DHCP address acquisition count
  • DHCP server option defaults (DNS/router/syslog/lease time)
  • factory-reset control state
