Description: Defines data formats for cable modem status display and reporting on ARRIS/Cadant CMTS equipment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CADANT-SHOWCM-FORMAT-MIB?

CADANT-SHOWCM-FORMAT-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Cadant/ARRIS that defines configurable output formats for the CMTS's "show cable modem" CLI command, allowing operators to customize which columns of cable modem data are displayed and in what order. It exposes configuration data only -- a table of named format profiles, each specifying up to eight display columns -- rather than any runtime hardware or performance metrics itself. In monitoring terms this MIB does not directly report device health; instead it configures how cable-modem status information (populated elsewhere on the CMTS, e.g. by CADANT-CMTS-EQUIPMENT-MIB or CableLabs' DOCS-IF-MIB-derived data) is presented when queried through the CLI, so its role is administrative/cosmetic rather than diagnostic. It is dependent on the underlying CMTS cable-modem status data sources that populate the columns it defines. It would typically be deployed on Arris/Cadant E6 CMTS chassis by operators who want customized CLI reporting views for cable modem fleets. Engineers can download the CADANT-SHOWCM-FORMAT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CADANT-SHOWCM-FORMAT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Arris/Cadant E6 CMTS chassis

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll cadShowCmFormatTable/cadShowCmFormatEntry to see which named format profiles exist (cadShowCmFormatName) and which data columns (cadShowCmFormatCol1 through cadShowCmFormatCol8) each profile displays when the show cable modem command is run. This is purely a display-configuration check -- for instance confirming a custom format includes a signal-quality column -- rather than a source of cable modem health data itself. There is no runtime fault or performance telemetry exposed by this module.

What Can Be Monitored

  • configured display format names
  • configured display columns per format profile
