Description: Provides packet analyzer and traffic capture configuration and statistics for the BAS CMTS platform.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is BAS-ANALYZER-MIB?
BAS-ANALYZER-MIB is a vendor MIB module associated with the "BAS" CMTS broadband access platform, providing packet analyzer and traffic capture configuration and statistics functionality. It exposes configuration objects for defining analyzer sessions/clients, including administrative status and MAC address/mask filters used to select which traffic is captured or mirrored for analysis. Its monitoring role centers on traffic diagnostics rather than physical hardware sensors — operators use it to confirm whether a given packet-capture session is enabled and correctly filtering on the intended MAC address(es), helping troubleshoot subscriber or network traffic issues on the CMTS. It is a platform/vendor-specific MIB tied to the BAS CMTS software architecture and likely depends on companion CMTS interface and cable-modem MIBs for full context. It is deployed on cable broadband access (CMTS) platforms where operators need in-line packet capture/analysis for diagnosing traffic or subscriber issues, and operators setting up such capture sessions typically begin with a BAS-ANALYZER-MIB download for their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BAS-ANALYZER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- BAS CMTS (cable modem termination system) platform
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll basAnalyzerTable/basAnalyzerEntry (indexed by basAnalyzerIndex) to check basAnalyzerAdminStatus and confirm a capture session is active for a specific basAnalyzerClient. If basAnalyzerMacAddress/basAnalyzerMacAddressMask are misconfigured, the capture session would silently fail to match the intended traffic, which basAnalyzerAdminStatus alone would not reveal without cross-checking the filter values.
What Can Be Monitored
- analyzer session admin status
- capture client configuration
- MAC address filter
- MAC address mask filter
