What Is Brcm-BSAPTrap-MIB?

Brcm-BSAPTrap-MIB is a Broadcom enterprise MIB dedicated entirely to defining SNMP trap notifications for the BSAP (Broadcom Advanced Server Program / NIC teaming) feature, which provides NIC adapter teaming and failover for server network interfaces. Rather than exposing pollable data objects, this module's purpose is to define the notification types themselves, events such as a team member link failing, a failover occurring, or a team member being restored. As a monitoring tool it is used purely for fault detection: it lets a management station receive asynchronous alerts about NIC teaming/failover events in real time, which is a direct signal of network-adapter hardware or driver-level software status changes on the server. Being a trap-definitions module, it is designed to be used alongside a corresponding BSAP configuration/status MIB (not included here) that defines the underlying teaming objects the traps refer to. It is typically deployed on servers using Broadcom NICs configured with BASP/BSAP teaming for network redundancy, where Brcm-BSAPTrap-MIB SNMP monitoring is common in Windows or Linux server environments.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Brcm-BSAPTrap-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Servers with Broadcom BASP/BSAP NIC teaming

Monitoring Examples

This module is a conformance/trap-definitions module rather than one exposing pollable runtime data objects, so there is no monitoring-by-polling scenario to describe; instead, a network management station would subscribe to receive its defined SNMP traps so that, for example, a NIC team member failover event fires an immediate notification rather than requiring the admin to poll for the failure.
