Category: Network Interfaces, Vendor: Broadcom

Description: Manages Broadcom Advanced Server Program (BASP) NIC teaming configuration, including team type and member port assignments.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is BASP-Config-MIB?

BASP-Config-MIB manages Broadcom's Advanced Server Program (BASP), a NIC teaming/bonding technology that lets multiple physical network adapters on a server act as a single logical team for load balancing or failover. Based on its short description, it exposes configuration objects covering team type (e.g., failover, load-balancing, 802.3ad link aggregation) and the physical member NICs assigned to each team. This MIB's monitoring focus is network hardware/software configuration status -- confirming which physical adapters are currently active members of a team and whether the team is operating in its intended mode, which helps diagnose reduced throughput or a team that has lost redundancy after a NIC failure. It is a Broadcom-specific configuration MIB layered on top of the standard IF-MIB interface model used for the underlying physical NICs. It is deployed on Windows/Linux servers equipped with multiple Broadcom NICs configured for teaming in enterprise data center environments. Engineers can download the BASP-Config-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BASP-Config-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • server with Broadcom network adapters
  • Broadcom NIC teaming (BASP) host

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll the team configuration table to check the team type assigned to a given logical team and enumerate its member NICs to confirm all expected physical adapters are present and active, though no specific object names were available in the source data to cite directly. A team member that has dropped out (e.g., after a cable fault or driver issue) would reduce the team's available bandwidth or eliminate its failover redundancy, which this MIB would surface via a reduced active-member count.

What Can Be Monitored

  • team type/mode configuration
  • team member NIC assignment
  • active team member count
  • team status
