Category: Routing Protocols, Vendor: Avaya
Description: Manages Integrated IS-IS routing protocol configuration and link-state database on Bay Networks routers.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is BayNetworks-IISIS-MIB?
BayNetworks-IISIS-MIB is a Bay Networks (later Nortel) proprietary MIB configuring Integrated IS-IS (I-ISIS) routing on Wellfleet/BayRS routers. Its objects cover global protocol enable/disable state, router ID and type, SPF hold-down timing, maximum path count, maximum area count, and logging mask. As a configuration/protocol-status MIB it lets an administrator confirm I-ISIS is enabled with the expected router ID and SPF timing before diagnosing a routing-adjacency or convergence problem. It is deployed on legacy Bay Networks/Wellfleet routers running Integrated IS-IS. Engineers can download the BayNetworks-IISIS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BayNetworks-IISIS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Bay Networks (Nortel)/Wellfleet BayRS routers
Monitoring Examples
An administrator checks wfIisisGeneralState and wfIisisSpfHoldDown to confirm I-ISIS is enabled with the expected SPF hold-down timer before investigating slower-than-expected convergence after a topology change.
What Can Be Monitored
- I-ISIS enable state
- router ID
- SPF hold-down timer

Each bit represents a message as defined below. A 1 in that bit location means to log it and a 0 means not to put that log message in the log. RFC description
Bay Networks vendor-private MIB for managing IS-IS routing protocol on enterprise routers and switches; predecessor to Nortel Networks.
Start monitoring Bay Networks/Nortel (Wellfleet BayRS) routers (legacy) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
