Description: Monitors SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) optical transceiver parameters on BTI Systems BTI8xx devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is BTI8xx-SFP-MIB?

This is a top-level enterprise MIB for the BTI8xx optical transport platform (BTI Systems, "Actus") that lays out the OID hierarchy for SFP (Small Form-factor Pluggable) optical transceiver management, and includes tables for SFP inventory, status, and diagnostics. It exposes an information table, an inventory table (sfpInventoryTable), a diagnostic table (sfpDiagnosticTable), and a status table (sfpStatusTable), which together cover transceiver identity/part-number data as well as real-time optical diagnostic parameters. This is squarely a hardware-monitoring MIB: it is used to track the health of pluggable optics—such as presence/absence, transmit/receive optical power, temperature, bias current, and voltage—commonly reported via SFP DDM (digital diagnostics monitoring), and to catch failing or out-of-spec transceivers before they cause link outages. It complements standard interface MIBs since each SFP corresponds to a physical port/interface, though it is a vendor-specific extension rather than a direct extension of any IETF MIB. It is deployed on BTI Systems BTI8xx optical transport/DWDM equipment in carrier and metro/long-haul optical networks, where BTI8xx-SFP-MIB SNMP monitoring helps catch degrading transceivers before they cause link outages.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BTI8xx-SFP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • BTI Systems BTI8xx optical transport platforms

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll sfpInventoryTable to confirm part number and vendor for each installed transceiver, then check sfpDiagnosticTable for optical power, temperature, and bias-current readings alongside sfpStatusTable for presence/link status. A steadily declining receive-power value in sfpDiagnosticTable, combined with a status change in sfpStatusTable, would flag a degrading fiber link or failing optic before it causes a full outage.

What Can Be Monitored

  • SFP presence/inventory (vendor, part number)
  • optical transmit/receive power
  • transceiver temperature
  • bias current and voltage
  • SFP link/operational status
