Category: VLAN and Bridging, Vendor: Alvarion, Wireless and WLAN

Description: Manages VLAN assignment and tagging configuration on Alvarion BreezeACCESS base station unit interfaces.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is BSUVLAN-MIB?

BSUVLAN-MIB is part of Alvarion's BreezeACCESS fixed wireless broadband family, managing VLAN tagging configuration on the Base Station Unit (BSU) for both management and subscriber traffic. It exposes the management VLAN ID and its priority, an outer (QinQ-style) VLAN tag ID and priority, and a per-subscriber-unit management VLAN ID list. It is used to monitor the software/network configuration correctness of VLAN segmentation on the BSU — most importantly confirming the management VLAN is correctly assigned, since a misconfiguration here can cut off remote SNMP/management access to the base station — making it a configuration-integrity monitor rather than a hardware-health one. It is part of the same Alvarion BSU MIB suite as BSUPARAM-MIB and BSUSTATS-MIB, sharing the common "ani" object-naming convention. It is deployed at BreezeACCESS base stations for wireless ISPs that need to separate management traffic from subscriber traffic using VLANs. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the BSUVLAN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BSUVLAN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Aperto Networks (Ceragon) PacketWave/WiMAX base station units (BSU)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check aniBsuVlanConfMgmtVlanId and aniBsuVlanConfMgmtVlanIdPriority to confirm the base station's management VLAN matches network design before making remote changes, since a mismatch could lock out SNMP/management access. Reviewing aniBsuVlanConfOuterTagId alongside aniBsuVlanConfSUMgmtVlanIdList verifies that outer QinQ tagging and per-subscriber VLAN assignments are correctly provisioned across linked subscriber units.

What Can Be Monitored

  • management VLAN ID and priority
  • outer (QinQ) VLAN tag ID and priority
  • per-subscriber-unit VLAN assignment
