What Is ARUBAWIRED-CHASSIS-MIB?

ARUBAWIRED-CHASSIS-MIB is an HPE Aruba proprietary MIB for ArubaOS-CX wired switches, covering the physical chassis hardware inventory. It exposes objects for power supplies, temperature sensors, fan trays/fans, and modules (line cards). It is squarely a hardware health MIB: power supply presence/status, temperature sensor readings for thermal monitoring, fan tray and fan operational status for cooling, and module presence/status for the installed cards, together giving a full picture of chassis component health. Its component structure parallels ENTITY-MIB physical-entity conventions typically used for indexing hardware components. It is deployed on Aruba CX series switches, both fixed and modular, in campus and data-center environments. Setting up ARUBAWIRED-CHASSIS-MIB SNMP monitoring typically means polling these power, temperature, fan, and module objects on a regular interval to catch hardware degradation early.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ARUBAWIRED-CHASSIS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • power supply status
  • temperature sensor readings
  • fan tray/fan operational status
  • module/line card presence and status

Supported Devices

  • HPE Aruba Networking CX 8360 v2 — current modular campus/data center switch series running ArubaOS-CX, up to 4.8 Tbps

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls arubaWiredTempSensor readings to catch an over-temperature condition and arubaWiredFanTray/arubaWiredFan status to detect a failed fan before thermal shutdown occurs. arubaWiredPowerSupply status is checked to detect a lost PSU in a dual-power-supply chassis, and arubaWiredModule confirms all expected line cards are present and operating. A rising temperature reading paired with a fan reporting a failed state would be treated as an early hardware-failure indicator.
