Description: Monitors BridgeWave millimeter-wave radio modem link quality, signal levels, and data throughput.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is BRWAVE-RADIO-MIB?
BRWAVE-RADIO-MIB is BridgeWave Communications' proprietary MIB for its millimeter-wave point-to-point wireless radio links used for high-capacity wireless backhaul. It exposes hardware identity data (radio, baseband, IF, and millimeter-wave unit serial numbers), radio configuration (transmit band, factory data rate), and hardware health telemetry including input voltage and unit/transmitter temperature, plus trap and event counters. It is strongly oriented toward hardware status monitoring — tracking unit and transmitter temperature and input voltage to catch thermal or power problems, and trap/event counts to detect link instability or hardware faults, making it a core tool for radio-link health monitoring. No explicit dependency on standard IETF MIBs is indicated, though it likely coexists with IF-MIB for link-level traffic statistics. It is deployed on outdoor millimeter-wave radio units providing point-to-point wireless backhaul links between towers or buildings in telecom and enterprise networks. Engineers can download the BRWAVE-RADIO-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BRWAVE-RADIO-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- BridgeWave millimeter-wave point-to-point radio link
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll brwaveRadioUnitTemperature and brwaveRadioTxTemperature to catch a transmitter or unit overheating (e.g., due to direct sun exposure or a cooling fault), cross-check brwaveRadioInVoltage for a failing power supply, and watch brwaveTrapCount alongside brwaveRadioEvents for a spike indicating link flaps or hardware faults. A rising brwaveRadioTxTemperature combined with an increasing brwaveTrapCount would be a strong signal of imminent radio hardware failure.
What Can Be Monitored
- radio unit temperature
- transmitter (Tx) temperature
- input voltage
- trap/event count
- transmit band and data rate configuration
