What Is BLADETYPE2-TRAP-MIB?
BLADETYPE2-TRAP-MIB is an HP BladeSystem MIB defining trap notifications for the Type 2 blade-system network interconnect module, covering hardware and network fault events. It exposes trap definitions such as bt2Traps, along with a display-string object (bt2SwTrapDisplayString) used to carry human-readable trap descriptions, rather than a large table of pollable counters. This module's role is purely fault/event notification — monitoring hardware and network conditions on the blade interconnect module by pushing traps when something changes state, rather than being polled continuously for status. It's a companion trap module to a corresponding BladeSystem Type 2 management MIB, so it depends on that module's object/status model for context around each trap. It's deployed within HP BladeSystem enclosures, on the embedded switch/interconnect module monitoring blade server network connectivity, with each trap identified by a specific BLADETYPE2-TRAP-MIB OID.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BLADETYPE2-TRAP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- HP BladeSystem Type 2 interconnect/switch module
Monitoring Examples
This module is primarily a trap-definition module rather than a source of pollable runtime data, so there is no ongoing polling scenario to describe from bt2Traps and bt2SwTrapDisplayString alone. An SNMP manager would instead configure trap reception for bt2Traps so that when a hardware or network fault occurs on the interconnect module, the event arrives with a bt2SwTrapDisplayString describing the condition. This supports asynchronous fault alerting rather than periodic status polling.
What Can Be Monitored
- hardware/network fault trap events
- trap display-string fault descriptions
