All MIBs › BESTPOWER-MIB
Category: Hardware and Environment
Description: Manages Best Power UPS units, monitoring battery status, input/output voltage, load percentage, and fault conditions.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is BESTPOWER-MIB?
BESTPOWER-MIB manages Best Power (a legacy UPS brand) uninterruptible power supply units, exposing identity, battery, and power-line status objects for the device. It reports UPS identity (model, serial number, firmware revision, VA rating), battery health (status, time on battery, runtime remaining, voltage), and multi-phase input/output voltage readings. This is a core hardware-health MIB for facilities monitoring, directly exposing battery status/runtime and power condition so an admin can detect an ongoing power outage, a failing battery, or an overloaded UPS before it shuts down connected equipment. It follows the general structure of the widely-used UPS-MIB (RFC 1628) conventions, though implemented as a proprietary Best Power extension. It is typically deployed in data centers or telecom equipment rooms protecting servers/network gear from power loss. Engineers can download the BESTPOWER-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BESTPOWER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Best Power UPS (uninterruptible power supply)
Monitoring Examples
An admin would poll upsBatteryStatus and upsBatteryRuntimeRemaining to confirm the UPS has sufficient battery reserve, and check upsBatteryTimeOnBattery to see whether the unit is currently running on battery due to a utility outage. Comparing upsInputPhase2/upsInputPhase3 against upsOutputPhase2 across phases would reveal an input brownout or phase imbalance the UPS is compensating for, while upsIdentUpsType and upsIdentVARating confirm the unit's capacity matches the connected load.
What Can Be Monitored
- battery status and runtime remaining
- time on battery
- input/output voltage per phase
- UPS identity/model/firmware
- battery voltage
