Category: Cisco Devices, Hardware and Environment, SNMP Framework
Description: Declares agent capabilities for switch fabric management including crossbar and backplane configuration.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CISCO-SWITCH-FABRIC-CAPABILITY?
CISCO-SWITCH-FABRIC-CAPABILITY is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES module declaring which features of CISCO-SWITCH-FABRIC-MIB (crossbar switch fabric and backplane management) a given Cisco chassis platform supports. It belongs to Cisco's modular-chassis switching/routing hardware feature area. It contains only capability declarations — supported object groups and compliance clauses from the switch-fabric MIB — with no runtime data of its own. As a conformance module it does not directly expose fabric-card health, backplane bandwidth, or fault data; that lives in CISCO-SWITCH-FABRIC-MIB, and this module's role is limited to describing feature support. It is fully dependent on CISCO-SWITCH-FABRIC-MIB, and it is used by management systems consulting the CISCO-SWITCH-FABRIC-CAPABILITY MIB during capability discovery against Cisco modular chassis platforms with redundant switch-fabric cards.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-SWITCH-FABRIC-CAPABILITY. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco modular chassis switches/routers with switch-fabric cards
Monitoring Examples
CISCO-SWITCH-FABRIC-CAPABILITY has no sample runtime objects (sample_objects is empty); it consists of AGENT-CAPABILITIES statements mapping supported switch-fabric MIB features to chassis platform/release. There is no monitoring scenario for this module itself — an NMS reads it once to confirm switch-fabric MIB support before polling the referenced MIB for crossbar/backplane health.
