Category: Network Monitoring (RMON), Vendor: Barix
Description: Manages Barix Barionet IP relay controllers, providing I/O port states, relay switching, and network connectivity status.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is BARIONET-MIB?
BARIONET-MIB is a Barix vendor-private MIB for the Barionet family of IP-connected I/O relay controllers, registered under barix.products.barionet. It exposes a top-level bariState object reporting whether the device is down(0), still in startup, or up(1) with live port data, and a bariInputTable indexed by bariInputIndex (1 through 1000) whose bariInputValue objects represent the current value of each addressable I/O variable -- the specific meaning of each index (digital input, relay output, analog reading, etc.) is defined per-device in the Barionet manual. A digitalInputNotification TRAP-TYPE carries the affected bariInputIndex and bariInputValue whenever a digital input changes state or on request, giving near-real-time visibility into physical I/O events without polling. Because the Barionet is a general-purpose IP relay/I/O gateway rather than a networking device, monitoring this MIB is primarily useful for building automation, access control, or remote alarm-monitoring use cases -- confirming the unit is up and correlating I/O state changes with real-world events. It has no dependency beyond the base RFC1155-SMI/RFC-1212/RFC-1215 conventions and is deployed on standalone Barionet units wired to sensors, relays, or alarm contacts; integrators can download the BARIONET-MIB file to poll or trap on I/O state from these controllers.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in BARIONET-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Barix Barionet IP I/O relay controllers
Monitoring Examples
An operator subscribes to digitalInputNotification traps from a Barionet monitoring a door contact wired to a specific bariInputIndex; a trap reporting bariInputValue transitioning to the 'open' state while bariState still shows up(1) would indicate a real door-open event rather than a device outage, distinguishing an alarm condition from a connectivity problem.
What Can Be Monitored
- overall operational status (up/down)
- digital/analog I/O port values (1-1000 addressable variables)
- digital input change notifications
- relay/output switching state via input table writes
