Description: Manages Avaya 96xx series IP telephone endpoints, reporting SIP/H.323 registration, call state, and feature button status.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is Avaya-96xxIPTelephone-MIB?
The Avaya-96xxIPTelephone-MIB is a vendor-specific SNMP module for Avaya's 96xx series IP telephone endpoints, defined for firmware release S3.1, covering configuration and status of these SIP/H.323 desk phones. It exposes a wide range of endpoint parameters covering audio settings (e.g. automatic gain control for handset/headset/speaker), application/boot identification (running application name, boot file), backlight behavior, and server connectivity settings for call and configuration servers. Its monitoring value is centered on endpoint software/firmware status and connectivity: objects like endptAPPNAME and endptBOOTNAME reveal which software/boot image the phone is currently running (useful for firmware rollout audits), while endptCNASRVR/endptCNAPORT and endptBRURI expose which backup/configuration servers the phone is registered against, helping diagnose registration or provisioning failures. It relies on the phone's underlying SIP or H.323 signaling stack for actual call state, which this MIB surfaces as configuration/status rather than duplicating the protocol itself. It is deployed in enterprise unified-communications environments using Avaya Aura or Avaya IP Office systems with 96xx-series desk phones as endpoints. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the Avaya-96xxIPTelephone-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Avaya-96xxIPTelephone-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Avaya 96xx series IP telephones
Monitoring Examples
An administrator auditing firmware compliance would poll endptAPPNAME and endptAPPINUSE to confirm which application image a given 9600-series phone is actively running, flagging any device still on an outdated version. endptCNASRVR and endptCNAPORT identify the configuration/near-end server a phone is pointed at, so a phone reporting the wrong server would explain a provisioning failure, while endptBOOTNAME confirms the boot file used at last startup. endptCODECR and endptCODECT (receive/transmit codec) can be checked to confirm expected audio codec negotiation, and endptBAKLIGHTOFF is a simple display configuration status check.
What Can Be Monitored
- running application/software version
- boot image name
- configuration/call server address and port
- codec negotiation (receive/transmit)
- audio AGC settings
