What Is CISCO-VOICE-CAS-MODULE-MIB?
This MIB configures Channel Associated Signaling (CAS) bit patterns on Cisco voice interface modules, controlling how ABCD signaling bits, representing off-hook, on-hook, idle, and flash events, are translated between the TDM (T1/E1) side and packet side of a voice gateway. It is a configuration-focused MIB for programming per-timeslot signaling bit templates rather than a hardware-sensor MIB. Its monitoring relevance is software/configuration status, as administrators verify that the correct ABCD bit action templates are applied per module and timeslot pattern, since a mismatched CAS template can cause call signaling failures such as failure to detect on-hook/off-hook transitions. It is specific to Cisco voice gateway/DSP modules and works alongside other Cisco voice MIBs, such as the VISM module MIBs, in TDM-to-VoIP gateway deployments. It is deployed on Cisco voice gateway platforms carrying T1/E1 CAS trunks requiring custom signaling bit translation, and the CISCO-VOICE-CAS-MODULE-MIB download is available for administrators to load into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-VOICE-CAS-MODULE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cisco voice gateway modules supporting T1/E1 CAS trunks
Monitoring Examples
An administrator diagnosing a stuck or misdetected call state would inspect cvcmABCDBitTemplateConfigTable / cvcmABCDBitTemplateConfigEntry for a given cvcmModuleIndex and cvcmCasTemplateIndex, checking cvcmABCDIncomingPattern and cvcmABCDOutgoingPattern against the expected signaling convention for the connected PBX or carrier. Incorrect cvcmCasABitAction/cvcmCasBBitAction/cvcmCasCBitAction settings could explain why the module isn't correctly signaling an on-hook or flash-hook event. The cvcmCasTemplateName helps identify which named template is active on a given module.
What Can Be Monitored
- ABCD signaling bit pattern configuration
- CAS template assignment per module
- incoming/outgoing bit pattern translation
- per-bit signaling action configuration
