What Is AtiSwitch-MIB?

AtiSwitch-MIB manages core Layer 2/3 switch configuration for Allied Telesyn's ("ATI") next-generation switch product line, covering port topology, IP management configuration, and software version, intended for use in both Windows and UNIX-based management environments. Its general data categories are hardware/product inventory (product type, base and uplink port counts, uplink types), software version, and IP/network configuration (management IP address, subnet mask, routing enable, address status). An admin would poll atiswitchSwVersion to audit firmware versions fleet-wide before a security patch rollout, and atiswitchIPAddressStatus to confirm the switch's management IP (atiswitchConfigIpAddress/atiswitchConfigSubMask) is correctly active — a status of "invalid" or "duplicate" would indicate an addressing conflict cutting off management access. atiswitchBasePortCount and atiswitchUplinkPortCount, along with atiswitchUplink1Type/atiswitchUplink2Type, let the operator confirm the switch's physical port inventory matches expectations. atiswitchConfigRouting reveals whether Layer 3 routing is enabled on a unit expected to operate purely as a Layer 2 switch.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using atiswitchEthMonRxGoodFrames OID:

Select an Allied Telesyn Layer 2/3 next-generation switch (legacy) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type atiswitchEthMonRxGoodFrames into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. The total number of good frames received on the switch. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
