Description: Manages switched WAN network interface configuration and statistics on Ascend access equipment.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ASCEND-MIBSWANNET-MIB?
ASCEND-MIBSWANNET-MIB is a proprietary Ascend Communications MIB for configuring and monitoring switched WAN network interfaces and their statistics on Ascend access equipment. It exposes configuration data for switched-WAN circuits (such as switched ISDN/dial-on-demand connections) along with call and traffic statistics for those interfaces. Its monitoring value spans both configuration verification and operational/software status: tracking how many switched calls are active, connection success/failure counts, and interface utilization, which together reveal problems with dial-on-demand connectivity or carrier switching. It is used together with the vendor's port and line-status MIBs since switched-WAN interfaces ultimately run over physical WAN ports. It was deployed on Ascend routers providing backup or on-demand WAN connectivity for branch offices. Engineers can download the ASCEND-MIBSWANNET-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASCEND-MIBSWANNET-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ascend WAN access router
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll the switched-WAN interface and call-statistics tables (an ascendSwanNetTable/ascendSwanCallEntry style structure) to check active call counts and failed-call statistics, treating a rising failed-call count on a backup dial interface as an early warning that a failover path may not work when the primary circuit goes down. No sample objects were provided for this MIB, so these names are inferred from the stated switched-WAN purpose rather than confirmed source identifiers.
What Can Be Monitored
- active switched call count
- call setup failure count
- switched interface utilization
- connection duration statistics
- switched-WAN interface status
