Description: Manages static slot card configuration and assignment in Ascend modular chassis equipment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ASCEND-MIBSTATICSLOT-MIB?

ASCEND-MIBSTATICSLOT-MIB is a proprietary Ascend module that manages static slot card configuration and assignment within Ascend's modular chassis equipment. It exposes configuration data describing which line card type occupies each chassis slot and how it is assigned/provisioned. Its monitoring role is chiefly hardware-inventory and status oriented: verifying each slot has the expected card installed and correctly configured, which is foundational for detecting missing, mismatched, or failed line cards in a modular chassis. It has no IETF standard counterpart, being specific to Ascend's proprietary modular chassis design. It is deployed on modular Ascend access concentrators (e.g. the TNT platform) that support field-replaceable line cards across many chassis slots. Engineers can download the ASCEND-MIBSTATICSLOT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASCEND-MIBSTATICSLOT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ascend TNT modular access chassis

Monitoring Examples

sample_objects was empty for this module, so the following is inferred from its declared purpose rather than confirmed object names. An administrator would poll the slot table to confirm the expected card type is present in each slot and would flag a slot as faulty if it reported an unexpected or absent card type after a hardware change. This is typically monitored alongside the static controller MIB and per-card-type MIBs (e.g. T1, xDSL slot cards) for complete chassis visibility.

What Can Be Monitored

  • slot card type/presence
  • slot assignment configuration
  • card provisioning status
