What Is ASCEND-MIBSPARING-MIB?
ASCEND-MIBSPARING-MIB is an Ascend proprietary MIB managing spare card inventory and hot-spare replacement in Ascend modular chassis equipment, tracking designated spare slots/cards and automatic failover to a spare when an active card fails. It exposes spare-assignment configuration and spare-activation status/events. Its monitoring value is hardware-redundancy/failover status: a spare being activated directly indicates a hardware failure occurred on the primary card. It complements ASCEND-MIBSLOT-MIB's slot inventory data. It was deployed on Ascend chassis configured with redundant hot-spare cards for high-availability access services, and administrators can download the ASCEND-MIBSPARING-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASCEND-MIBSPARING-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ascend modular chassis equipment with hot-spare cards
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were captured for this module. Based on its purpose, it would expose spare-card assignment configuration and spare-activation event objects, which an operator watches for an activation notification signaling a primary card failed and traffic was cut over to the spare.
What Can Be Monitored
- spare card assignment/configuration
- spare activation/failover events
- spare card status
