Category: Hardware and Environment, Vendor: Ascend/Lucent

Description: Manages chassis stack configuration and inter-shelf connectivity on Ascend modular equipment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ASCEND-MIBSTACK-MIB?

ASCEND-MIBSTACK-MIB is an Ascend proprietary MIB for chassis stack configuration and inter-shelf connectivity management in Ascend modular equipment, where multiple physically linked shelves operate as one logical system. It exposes per-shelf identity, stack-link configuration, and inter-shelf connectivity status. Its monitoring role is hardware topology/connectivity health: confirming all shelves in the stack are present and properly linked, an important check for multi-shelf systems. No clear dependency on other standard MIBs is evident from the description. It was deployed in large Ascend access installations using multiple stacked shelves for port density. Engineers can download the ASCEND-MIBSTACK-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASCEND-MIBSTACK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ascend multi-shelf/stacked access equipment

Monitoring Examples

No sample objects were captured for this module. Based on its purpose, it would expose a per-shelf stack-member table and inter-shelf link status object, letting an operator detect a shelf that has dropped out of the stack or an inter-shelf link failure.

What Can Be Monitored

  • stack member shelf identity
  • inter-shelf link status
  • stack connectivity/topology state
