Description: Tracks DSL line diagnostic test outcomes and fault statistics on Ascend DSL equipment.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ASCEND-MIBLINEDIAGSTAT-MIB?
ASCEND-MIBLINEDIAGSTAT-MIB is a proprietary Ascend Communications MIB that reports DSL line diagnostic test results and fault statistics on Ascend DSL access equipment such as DSLAMs and modems. It exposes fault/diagnostic-oriented data: test outcomes, error counters, and line-quality indicators gathered from built-in line diagnostics. This is squarely a hardware-health MIB, used to monitor physical line condition, signal quality faults, and self-test pass/fail results that indicate a failing copper pair or line card port. It is typically read alongside the vendor's core DSL line-status MIBs (e.g. SDSL/VDSL modules) that provide the ongoing operational counters this diagnostic data supplements. It was deployed by telcos and ISPs running DSL access networks to triage subscriber line quality complaints. Engineers can download the ASCEND-MIBLINEDIAGSTAT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASCEND-MIBLINEDIAGSTAT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ascend DSL modem
- Ascend DSLAM line card
Monitoring Examples
A technician would poll the diagnostic result and fault-statistics tables (an ascendLineDiagTable/ascendLineFaultEntry style structure) for a specific subscriber port after a trouble ticket, checking whether the latest self-test passed and whether fault counters (e.g. loop-current or continuity failures) have been incrementing, which would point to a physical wiring fault rather than a configuration issue. Because no sample objects were available, these object names are a reasonable reconstruction from the stated diagnostic purpose, not confirmed source identifiers.
What Can Be Monitored
- line diagnostic test result
- line fault count
- signal quality indicator
- self-test pass/fail status
- diagnostic history per port
