What Is ASCEND-MIBE3ATMNET-MIB?
ASCEND-MIBE3ATMNET-MIB is a proprietary Ascend MIB managing E3-based ATM network interface configuration and cell statistics, the European counterpart to the DS3 ATM MIB in this family. It exposes E3 physical-line configuration and alarm status alongside ATM cell-layer performance counters for the interface. Its monitoring value centers on hardware and interface health: E3 line alarms reveal physical-layer problems such as loss of signal or framing errors, while ATM cell error and discard counters surface congestion or transmission faults on the trunk. It builds on standard E3 and ATM MIB conventions with Ascend-specific extensions layered on top. It was deployed on Ascend WAN edge/aggregation equipment connecting to carrier E3 ATM circuits, primarily in European and other E-carrier telecom environments, where technicians can still find an ASCEND-MIBE3ATMNET-MIB download for loading into legacy MIB browsers.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ASCEND-MIBE3ATMNET-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ascend WAN edge/aggregation routers with E3 ATM interfaces
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls the E3 line alarm/status objects for loss-of-signal or framing-error indications on the physical circuit, together with ATM cell error and discard counters for the interface. An increase in cell discards paired with an active E3 alarm points to a degrading carrier circuit rather than a router-side misconfiguration. These counters are typically trended over time so a gradual increase in errors can be caught before the circuit fails outright.
What Can Be Monitored
- E3 line alarm/error status
- ATM cell error/discard counters
- interface configuration parameters
- physical-layer signal status
