Description: Aruba wired switch ArubaOS-CX MGMD multicast RMON trap notification definitions.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ARUBAWIRED-MGMD-RMON-TRAP-MIB?
ARUBAWIRED-MGMD-RMON-TRAP-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB for HPE Aruba wired switches running ArubaOS-CX, defining SNMP trap notifications tied to Multicast/IGMP-Snooping-related RMON (Remote Network Monitoring) events, referred to here as MGMD (Multicast Group Membership Discovery). It is primarily a notification-definition module rather than a table of continuously polled values, so its monitoring role is event-driven fault and threshold alerting for multicast traffic conditions on the switch. It supports detecting anomalies in multicast group membership behavior, such as unusual join/leave rates or RMON alarm thresholds being crossed, which can indicate multicast flooding, misconfigured IGMP snooping, or a failing multicast source. It builds on the standard RMON MIB (RFC 2819) alarm/event framework and is layered on top of Aruba's multicast/IGMP snooping feature set. It is deployed in enterprise and data center networks using Aruba CX switches where multicast video or IPTV-like traffic needs proactive fault monitoring. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the ARUBAWIRED-MGMD-RMON-TRAP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ARUBAWIRED-MGMD-RMON-TRAP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Aruba CX wired switch (ArubaOS-CX)
Monitoring Examples
The single confirmed object, arubaWiredMgmdRmonTrapNotifications, is the notifications branch under which specific traps (fired when RMON alarm conditions tied to multicast group membership are met) are defined. An administrator would configure RMON alarm/event entries against multicast counters and rely on this MIB's traps to be notified in near-real-time rather than polling continuously. Because this is a notification-only module, its practical use is alerting on threshold-crossing multicast events rather than routine table walks.
What Can Be Monitored
- multicast group membership RMON trap events
- IGMP/MGMD threshold-crossing alerts
