Description: Alarm and trap definitions for ARRIS D5 Universal Edge QAM, covering environmental, MPEG, session management, CAS, DTI, and EQM fault events

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ARRIS-D5-ALARM-MIB?

This MIB module defines alarm and trap notifications for the ARRIS D5 Universal Edge QAM, a cable-television headend device used to modulate and multiplex digital video/data onto RF channels for delivery to subscribers. It exposes fault and event data spanning environmental conditions, MPEG transport stream errors, video session management, Conditional Access System (CAS) issues, DOCSIS Timing Interface (DTI) synchronization, and Edge QAM Manager (EQM) faults. Because it is fundamentally a trap/notification definition module, its core monitoring value lies in immediately signaling hardware and software health problems — such as environmental sensor alarms, timing-lock loss on the DTI, or CAS entitlement faults — the moment they occur, rather than in continuously polled status counters. It is designed to work alongside other ARRIS D5 MIBs, such as the entity-sensor threshold extension and video-session MIBs, which supply the underlying objects these alarms reference. It is deployed in cable operator headends and hubs wherever D5 Edge QAM chassis provide digital video and DOCSIS data delivery over an RF access network, and operators typically perform an ARRIS-D5-ALARM-MIB download to load the module into their NMS before subscribing to these traps.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ARRIS-D5-ALARM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ARRIS D5 Universal Edge QAM
  • cable headend/hub video delivery equipment

Monitoring Examples

This module defines only trap/notification types rather than data objects (no sample objects were available), so there is no polling scenario to describe; instead, an NMS subscribes to its environmental, MPEG, session, CAS, DTI, and EQM alarm traps and is alerted the instant a fault such as a DTI timing-lock loss or CAS error occurs on the D5 chassis. This event-driven design lets operators react to failures without constant polling.
