Description: ARRIS C3 CMTS interface management for upstream and downstream channel configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ARRIS-C3-IF-MIB?

This ARRIS-proprietary MIB manages the interface table for the ARRIS C3 CMTS (Cable Modem Termination System) chassis, covering upstream and downstream RF channel interface configuration. It exposes per-channel interface objects for the CMTS's cable interfaces, layered on top of the standard IF-MIB interface framework. For monitoring, it lets an operator check upstream/downstream channel interface operational and administrative state and configuration, identifying a downed or misconfigured RF channel that is affecting cable modem service on that segment. It depends on and extends the standard IETF IF-MIB (RFC 2863) interface indexing model, and typically works alongside DOCS-IF-MIB for full DOCSIS channel statistics. Typically deployed on ARRIS C3 CMTS platforms in cable/MSO headend environments. Engineers can download the ARRIS-C3-IF-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ARRIS-C3-IF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ARRIS C3 CMTS (cable headend)

Monitoring Examples

No sample_objects were extracted for this module, so specifics cannot be grounded in exact object names, but based on the module description, an administrator would poll the proprietary upstream/downstream channel interface entries to check each RF channel's operational status and configuration, revealing a downstream channel that has gone administratively or operationally down and is impacting subscriber cable modems on that segment.

What Can Be Monitored

  • upstream channel interface status
  • downstream channel interface status
  • channel configuration/admin state
