Description: Arista EOS test and diagnostic MIB for internal validation and QA purposes.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ARISTA-TEST-MIB?

ARISTA-TEST-MIB is an Arista Networks EOS MIB explicitly built for internal validation, quality assurance, and testing of SNMP agent behavior on Arista switches, rather than for production monitoring of any real device subsystem. It exposes test notification objects and a notification counter/comment used to exercise the SNMP trap-generation and delivery pipeline during QA. It has no meaningful role in hardware or software status monitoring since its objects are synthetic test scaffolding rather than real operational data; its value to an operator is essentially nil outside of Arista's own internal test harnesses. It has no notable functional dependency on other MIBs beyond standard SNMP notification conventions (it includes its own conformance and compliance groups). It is not deployed in production networks in any meaningful monitoring sense; it may appear loaded on Arista EOS devices as part of the standard MIB set, though the ARISTA-TEST-MIB MIB itself is not intended for operational use.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ARISTA-TEST-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Arista EOS switches (internal test/QA use only)

Monitoring Examples

Sample objects include aristaTestNotificationCounter, aristaTestNotificationComment, and the aristaTestNotifications/aristaTestObjects/aristaTestConformance groups, along with aristaTestCompliances and aristaTestGroups conformance statements. Because this is explicitly a test/QA MIB with synthetic objects, there is no realistic production monitoring scenario to describe honestly; at most, an engineer validating SNMP trap delivery on a new EOS image might trigger aristaTestNotificationCounter to increment and confirm the trap arrives with the expected aristaTestNotificationComment text. This is a functional test of the SNMP pipeline, not a monitoring use case for device health.
