What Is ARISTA-SMI-MIB?
ARISTA-SMI-MIB defines the Structure of Management Information for Arista Networks, establishing the enterprise OID registration hierarchy used across Arista's EOS (Extensible Operating System) switch product line. It contains no data objects of its own; it is a namespace/root MIB beneath which Arista's functional MIB modules -- covering areas such as interface status, environmental sensors, hardware inventory, and EOS software state -- register their OIDs. Its contribution to monitoring is entirely indirect: it underlies the OID structure that dependent Arista MIBs use to expose switch hardware health (power supplies, fans, temperature), interface counters, and EOS software/process status. As an enterprise SMI module it relies only on the standard SNMPv2-SMI/IANA enterprise-numbering conventions for building the OID tree, with no other functional MIB dependencies of its own. It is deployed wherever Arista EOS-based data center or campus switches are managed, with this module compiled first so the NMS can resolve the vendor's more detailed functional MIBs, and an engineer using this document purely as an ARISTA-SMI-MIB reference will find only the registration hierarchy itself rather than any pollable data.

Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were extracted for this module, consistent with its purpose as a pure OID-registration root with no scalars or tables. An admin would never poll ARISTA-SMI-MIB directly for values; an NMS instead compiles it as a prerequisite before loading Arista's functional EOS MIBs that expose switch hardware sensor readings, interface state, and software status. Its presence in a MIB tree signals that Arista EOS switching equipment is under management.
