What Is ARISTA-BGP4V2-MIB?
ARISTA-BGP4V2-MIB is Arista Networks' homing of the IETF draft BGP4-MIB version 2 (draft-ietf-idr-bgp4-mibv2-13) into Arista's enterprise OID tree without functional modification, providing standard BGP peer session and routing-table statistics for Arista EOS switches/routers. It exposes BGP peer identification and session state (idle/connect/established), negotiated capabilities, and per-peer prefix/route counters for IPv4 and IPv6 address families. Its monitoring value centers on routing-protocol software health rather than hardware: peer session state reveals whether BGP adjacencies are up or flapping, and prefix counters reveal whether a peer is sending an expected route count, both critical for catching routing instability, session resets, or route loss. As a direct homing of the IETF draft BGP4-MIBv2, it is explicitly dependent on and structurally identical to that standard, with no other original content. It is deployed on Arista EOS switches/routers running BGP in data-center or service-provider environments where NMS tools poll BGP peer health as part of routing infrastructure monitoring. Engineers can download the ARISTA-BGP4V2-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
