Description: Alvarion wireless device tools MIB for managing diagnostic utilities including ping, traceroute, and spectrum analysis.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ALVARION-TOOLS-MIB?

ALVARION-TOOLS-MIB is a proprietary MIB from Alvarion for its wireless broadband (e.g., BreezeMAX/WiMAX) base stations and subscriber units, exposing built-in diagnostic tools such as remote packet capture and tracing. It presents configuration/control objects (capture destination, filter, timeout, packet count) and status/notification objects for the capture process rather than passive performance counters. Its role is active diagnostics of the device's software: an operator uses it to remotely trigger a trace/capture and monitor its completion status, which is useful for troubleshooting a connectivity or protocol issue directly from the device rather than checking hardware health per se. It is a standalone Alvarion-proprietary MIB with no dependency on other standard tool MIBs. It is deployed on Alvarion wireless broadband equipment in WISP or fixed-wireless deployments where remote, on-device diagnostics reduce the need for site visits. Engineers can download the ALVARION-TOOLS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ALVARION-TOOLS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Alvarion BreezeMAX/wireless broadband base stations and subscriber units

Monitoring Examples

An operator sets traceInterface, traceCaptureDestination/traceCaptureDestinationURL, and tracePacketSize, then polls traceCaptureStatus to see when a remotely triggered packet capture on the device has completed. traceNumberOfPackets and traceTimeout bound how much data is captured, while traceNotificationEnabled controls whether an SNMP notification fires on completion - letting an admin diagnose a connectivity problem on a remote wireless unit without dispatching a technician.

What Can Be Monitored

  • packet capture/trace status
  • trace capture destination and filter
  • trace timeout and packet count
  • capture completion notification state
