Description: The svcEndPointMacLimitAlarmRaised notification is sent whenever the number of MAC addresses stored in the FDB for this endpoint exceeds the watermark specified by the object svcTlsFdbTableFullHighWatermark.

This alarm also takes into consideration static MAC addresses configured on the endpoint and learned MAC addresses in all spokes associated with this endpoint.

What is svcEndPointMacLimitAlarmRaised?

This notification is sent when the number of MAC addresses learned in the Forwarding Database (FDB) for a service endpoint exceeds a high-water mark threshold. It indicates that the system is learning more MAC addresses than expected and may signal a broadcast storm or configuration issue. Operators receive this alert to investigate and address potential Layer 2 network problems.

Examples

Send this trap to an SNMP manager — replace <manager> with the IP or hostname of your monitoring server (SNMPv2c):

snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' ALCATEL-IND1-TIMETRA-SERV-MIB::svcEndPointMacLimitAlarmRaised
snmptrap -v2c -c public <manager> '' 1.3.6.1.4.1.6527.3.1.3.4.2.0.18

Listen for incoming traps on the manager host (-f keeps it in the foreground, -Lo prints to stdout — useful for testing):

snmptrapd -f -Lo -c /dev/null authCommunity log public
