What Is ZXR10-PING-DETECT-MIB?
This MIB is part of the ZTE ZXROS software family and defines a lightweight ICMP-ping-based link/reachability detection feature, commonly used to trigger failover or routing changes when a monitored destination becomes unreachable. It exposes configuration for detection targets (destination addresses, probe intervals, thresholds) and operational status indicating whether each monitored target is currently reachable or has failed. Its core monitoring value is software-level reachability/health status: it tells an operator whether a critical next hop, gateway, or remote endpoint is currently alive, functioning as an automated health check rather than a hardware sensor. It typically works in conjunction with static routing, VRRP, or PBR features on the same device, since a detected failure is often used to trigger a route or next-hop change. It is commonly deployed on ZXR10 edge/access routers that need automatic failover when an uplink or peer becomes unreachable. Monitoring Examples
An administrator would configure a detection entry with a target IP address and polling interval, then poll the corresponding status object to see whether the target is currently marked reachable or failed. A transition to a failed state indicates the monitored path or peer has gone down, which downstream logic (e.g., PBR or static route) can use to reroute traffic automatically. Tracking how often a target flips between reachable and failed also helps identify a flapping or marginal link before it causes a full outage.
