What Is ZXR10-MAC-PING-MIB?

ZXR10-MAC-PING-MIB is a ZTE enterprise MIB that implements Layer 2 MAC-ping connectivity testing on ZXR10 routers and switches, rooted under zxr10L2vpn.zxr10MacPingMIB (enterprises.3902.3.104.4). Its zxr10MacPingTable lets an operator configure a MAC-layer ping test — target zxr10PingMacDestMac address, egress interface, VLAN context (zxr10PingMacInternalVlanId, zxr10PingMacExternalVlanId, zxr10PingMacVlanId), packet count, timeout, and hop count — and control it via zxr10PingMacRosStatus (row status) with optional trap notification on completion (zxr10PingMacTrapOncompletion). Results land in zxr10PingMacResultTable, which reports sent/received packet counts and round-trip min/max/average times for each test instance, giving operators a way to actively probe L2VPN/MAC reachability between endpoints rather than relying only on passive counters. It is self-contained aside from standard SNMPv2-SMI/TC imports, and is deployed on ZXR10 routers and switches used as PE devices in L2VPN/VPLS deployments where MAC-layer reachability between customer endpoints needs active verification. Operators validating VPLS reachability commonly reference a ZXR10-MAC-PING-MIB MIB Browser session before initiating a test.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZXR10-MAC-PING-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ZTE ZXR10 router and switch series (L2VPN/VPLS-capable platforms)

Monitoring Examples

An operator sets a row in zxr10MacPingTable targeting a remote zxr10PingMacDestMac across a VPLS instance, then polls zxr10PingMacResultTable's zxr10PingMacResultSentPkts versus zxr10PingMacResultRcvPkts and zxr10PingMacResultRoundTripAvgTime; a large gap between sent and received packets would indicate a Layer 2 connectivity or VLAN mapping problem between the two MAC endpoints.

What Can Be Monitored

  • MAC ping test configuration (destination MAC, VLAN context, hop count)
  • MAC ping row status/administrative control
  • sent vs. received packet counts
  • round-trip min/max/average time
