What Is ZXR10-L2TP-MIB?

ZXR10-L2TP-MIB is a ZTE proprietary SNMP module for ZXROS-based ZXR10 devices (documented against ZXROS v4.8.22) that manages Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP) tunnels and sessions used to carry PPP traffic over IP networks. It exposes configuration and query data for tunnel and session parameters, such as tunnel endpoints and session identifiers, rather than physical-hardware environment data. This MIB supports monitoring the software/protocol status of the device's L2TP subsystem, letting an operator confirm tunnels and sessions are established and stable, which is important for broadband access aggregation deployments relying on L2TP for subscriber PPP sessions. As an L2TP implementation it is conceptually related to the IETF L2TP MIB definitions and to PPP/interface MIBs used to represent the underlying sessions. It is deployed on ZTE ZXR10 routers acting as LAC/LNS devices in broadband access networks tunneling subscriber PPP sessions. Engineers can download the ZXR10-L2TP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZXR10-L2TP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ZTE ZXR10 router

Monitoring Examples

No object names were captured for this MIB, so a specific table cannot be honestly cited; in practice an operator would poll the L2TP tunnel and session tables to confirm expected tunnels are up and sessions are active, noticing a subscriber-access problem if session counts drop unexpectedly or a tunnel shows a down state.

What Can Be Monitored

  • L2TP tunnel state
  • L2TP session count
  • tunnel endpoint configuration
  • session establishment status

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using l2tpStatsActiveTunnels OID:

Select a ZTE ZXR10 router (L2TP tunnel/session establishment status) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type l2tpStatsActiveTunnels into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, then select it and click OK. This object returns the number of tunnels that are currently active. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Gauge32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
