What Is ZXR10-MPLS-L3VPN-STATIS?

ZXR10-MPLS-L3VPN-STATIS is a vendor-specific MIB from ZTE Corporation (part of the ZXROS v4.6.03 software) that exposes per-VPN traffic statistics for MPLS Layer 3 VPNs configured on a ZXR10 PE router. Its single table, zxr10L3vpnStatisTable, is indexed by zxr10L3vpnStatisVpnID and reports zxr10L3vpnStatisVpnName alongside four 64-bit traffic counters: zxr10L3vpnStatisRecvPkts, zxr10L3vpnStatisRecvBytes, zxr10L3vpnStatisSndPkts, and zxr10L3vpnStatisSndBytes. This is a compact, purely read-only statistics MIB with no configuration objects, notifications, or conformance groups, intended solely to give operators visibility into per-VRF forwarding volume for capacity planning and traffic-anomaly detection. It depends on ZXR10-SMI for its enterprise OID placement and is deployed on ZTE ZXR10 routers acting as MPLS L3VPN PE devices in service-provider networks. Operators can download the ZXR10-MPLS-L3VPN-STATIS file to poll per-VPN packet and byte counters directly from ZXR10 PE routers.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZXR10-MPLS-L3VPN-STATIS. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ZTE ZXR10 routers (MPLS L3VPN PE devices, ZXROS v4.6.03)

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls zxr10L3vpnStatisTable (indexed by zxr10L3vpnStatisVpnID) to compare zxr10L3vpnStatisRecvBytes and zxr10L3vpnStatisSndBytes trends against expected traffic baselines for a given VRF; a sudden drop to near-zero counters for an active VPN would indicate a broken or misrouted L3VPN forwarding path for that customer instance.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-VPN received packet/byte counters
  • per-VPN transmitted packet/byte counters
  • VPN instance name-to-ID mapping

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using zxr10L3vpnStatisRecvPkts OID:

Select a ZTE ZXR10 router (MPLS L3VPN PE devices, ZXROS v4.6.03) (per-VRF received/sent packet-byte counter status) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type zxr10L3vpnStatisRecvPkts into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. The number of packets received by the l3vpn instance. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter64-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
