Description: Manages Zhone Technologies FTP client configuration for firmware and configuration file transfers.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ZHONE-COM-IP-FTP-CLIENT-MIB?
This Zhone Technologies enterprise MIB models the device's embedded FTP client, used by network managers to remotely trigger firmware upgrades or configuration-file transfers on Zhone equipment. It defines a table of up to 20 concurrently executable FTP requests, each entry capturing the request's parameters, equivalent to an FTP command line, and its execution status. Its monitoring value is around the software operational status of file-transfer jobs: confirming whether a triggered firmware download or config backup completed successfully, failed, or is still in progress, which is essential before assuming a firmware update took effect. It has no direct standards-MIB dependency, being a self-contained Zhone-proprietary job-management structure layered on plain FTP (RFC 959). It is deployed on Zhone access/CPE devices where administrators push firmware or configuration updates via SNMP-triggered FTP transfers rather than a separate management protocol. Engineers can download the ZHONE-COM-IP-FTP-CLIENT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZHONE-COM-IP-FTP-CLIENT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Zhone Technologies broadband CPE/access device
Monitoring Examples
No sample objects were available in this MIB source. In general, an administrator would create or poll an entry in the FTP request table to check whether a triggered firmware-image transfer has completed or failed. A request entry stuck in an in-progress or error state would indicate the firmware upgrade did not complete, leaving the device on its prior software version.
What Can Be Monitored
- FTP request/job status
- concurrent transfer count
- transfer completion/error state
