What Is Zhone-TC?

Zhone-TC is the textual-conventions module for Zhone Technologies (a maker of broadband access, DSL, and fiber/PON equipment), defining the common SNMP data types and enumerations reused across all Zhone enterprise MIB modules. It contains no runtime objects of its own — no interfaces, environment sensors, performance counters, configuration parameters, or traps — since its sole purpose is to standardize how those things are typed in the Zhone MIBs that import it. It therefore is not used to directly monitor uptime, temperature, CPU/memory load, power/fan health, disk, or software version; those are exposed by the specific Zhone product MIBs built on top of these conventions. Every Zhone device MIB module has a structural dependency on this TC module compiling first. A Zhone-TC reference is required by every Zhone product MIB before it can compile, since those modules import their shared data types directly from this module. It is loaded as a prerequisite file whenever an SNMP manager processes MIBs for Zhone broadband access or PON equipment.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Zhone-TC. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Zhone Technologies broadband access, DSL, and PON equipment
  • textual-conventions module, not queried directly

Monitoring Examples

Zhone-TC has no sample_objects and defines only shared data-type conventions, not pollable objects, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe for this module in isolation. Actual device status (line status, alarms, performance) would be read from the specific Zhone product MIB that imports these textual conventions.
