Category: Zhone Technologies CPE and Access

Description: Provides Zhone Technologies line card diagnostic test controls, results, and fault isolation objects.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ZHONE-CARD-DIAGNOSTICS-MIB?

ZHONE-CARD-DIAGNOSTICS-MIB provides per-card/per-resource hardware diagnostics on Zhone Technologies access equipment, letting an operator initiate self-tests and read back fault-isolation results for individual line cards. It exposes diagnostic-test control objects (which test to run, when to run it) and result/status objects reporting pass/fail outcomes and fault details for the tested card or resource. Its monitoring value is directly in hardware health verification: it is the mechanism for confirming a line card is functioning correctly, isolating a suspected faulty card before a truck roll, and distinguishing a hardware fault from a software/configuration issue. It is a Zhone-proprietary hardware-diagnostics extension with no apparent dependency on IETF standard MIBs, working alongside the chassis/entity MIBs that identify the physical cards being tested. It is deployed on Zhone access/aggregation shelves where technicians or NMS automation trigger on-demand diagnostics as part of hardware troubleshooting. Engineers can download the ZHONE-CARD-DIAGNOSTICS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZHONE-CARD-DIAGNOSTICS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Zhone access/aggregation shelf (line cards)

Monitoring Examples

No sample object names were provided for this module; based on the module description, an admin would trigger a per-card diagnostic test object and then poll the corresponding result object to confirm whether a suspect line card passed or failed self-test, using the fault-isolation detail to decide whether the card needs replacement.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-card diagnostic test control
  • diagnostic test results (pass/fail)
  • fault isolation detail
