Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ZHNVOICE?

ZHNVOICE defines private enterprise MIB extensions from Zhone Technologies for the VoIP functionality of Zhone CPE devices, covering SIP account provisioning, codec selection, and call-feature configuration. It exposes categories of data related to SIP registration/account settings, voice codec preferences, and telephony feature configuration on the device's voice ports. From a monitoring standpoint it primarily supports software/service status checks -- confirming SIP registration state and active call/codec configuration -- which functions as a proxy for whether the voice service on the CPE is operating correctly rather than exposing classic hardware sensors. It builds conceptually on standard SIP and VoIP conventions even though implemented as a proprietary object set. It is typically deployed by broadband/VoIP service providers managing Zhone integrated access devices delivering residential or business telephone service over IP. Engineers can download the ZHNVOICE file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ZHNVOICE. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Zhone Technologies VoIP CPE / integrated access device

Monitoring Examples

An operator would check SIP account registration status and configured codec settings on a Zhone VoIP CPE to confirm the device successfully registered with the SIP proxy and negotiated the expected audio codec. A registration failure or unexpected codec fallback (e.g., to a lower-quality codec) would surface as a service-quality complaint traceable through these objects.

What Can Be Monitored

  • SIP account registration status
  • configured voice codec
  • call feature configuration
  • voice port status
